Wood buildings have been built with both architectural craftsmanship and support by the general public for a long time. The Wood Construction Arts should never cease their efforts to preserve and cultivate our heritage. A samurai residence, “Okazaki House” in Tottori constructed in 1835, shows evidence of significant progress in its seismic design as a development brought about by the wood construction arts. We set up here a benchmark for The Wood Construction Arts to be cultivated further.
